KIWER has been honored with an award from GIZ to provide technical and coaching support to 26 municipalities in Kosovo as they undertake the task of revising their local solid waste management plans, a mandate stipulated by local legislation. The primary aim of this initiative is to ensure that the revised plans align seamlessly with current legislation and policies, while also embracing the principles of integrated waste management to facilitate the transition towards a sustainable green and circular economy.
This multifaceted project encompasses a diverse range of activities, including the development of a standardized template for drafting and revising local waste management plans, the creation of a comprehensive manual for future cycles of solid waste management plan revision, and the introduction of emergency response plans. At the heart of these activities lies a robust capacity-building plan designed to empower municipalities to independently and effectively carry out these tasks in a manner that upholds high standards of quality during future processes.
