KIWER has been awarded a contract by GIZ to assist the municipalities of Malisheva and Dragash in creating local waste management plans. These plans will be developed to adhere to the legal framework and waste management hierarchy, integrate circular economy principles, and ensure the financial sustainability of the system.
According to legislation, municipalities are responsible for establishing local waste management systems and delivering waste services. These plans, typically covering a five-year period, act as strategic documents where municipalities define objectives, set goals, outline action plans, and allocate financial resources. Moreover, the project will aid municipalities in enhancing their monitoring capabilities for plan implementation and in formulating plans for future cycles.
