Study on Deposit Refund System (DRS) for Kosovo

As part of a Consortium with Eunomia Ltd, Kosovo has been selected by GIZ to undertake a Deposit Refund System project focused on beverage containers. This initiative aims to support the Ministry of Environment in Kosovo by assessing the feasibility of implementing a Deposit Refund Scheme for beverage containers.

The consultancy will encompass several strategic tasks:

  • Conducting a comprehensive market overview of the beverage market in Kosovo.
  • Undertaking a Pre-design Study and Impact Analysis to evaluate the potential effects of the Deposit Refund System.
  • Formulating a robust communication strategy to effectively convey the benefits and objectives of the scheme.
  • Developing a detailed Deposit Refund System concept tailored to the specific needs and dynamics of Kosovo.
  • Implementing the Deposit Refund System in collaboration with stakeholders and relevant authorities.

Through these strategic endeavors, the project aims to optimize waste management practices, promote environmental sustainability, and enhance public engagement and awareness regarding beverage container recycling in Kosovo.
