Kiwer supported 26 municipalities in Kosovo in revising their local solid waste management
plans, as mandated by local legislation. The project encompassed several activities, including: developing a standardized template for local waste management plans; creating a manual for the revision of solid waste management plans; drafting emergency response plans; providing assistance to municipalities throughout the revision process, including data verification, legal and environmental compliance, and establishing a strategic framework with goals, objectives, actions, and key performance indicators (KPIs); developing medium-term investment plans; drafting operational and financial plans; and integrating an integrated solid waste approach, waste management hierarchy, and circular economy principles.
