The EBRD had developed this project together with the Kyzylorda Water Company and the City of Kyzylorda to upgrade the water and wastewater system in the City. The Project helped the Company to improve its water and wastewater services by financing priority investments for the water supply and wastewater management infrastructure as well as a Corporate Development Programme to improve its performance.
As part of the Corporate Development Programme, the following activities were delivered: a performance based private sector management contract between the Company, the Akimat and a private operator; Development and implementation of a FOPIP; Development and adoption of a medium-term focused Corporate Development Plan for the Company; Development and introduction of an MIS; Development and implementation of the Stakeholder Participation Programme (SPP) Specifically, the project supported the client to: improve environmental performance, to meet effluent treatment standards; improve revenue and collection efficiency, reduce NRW and water losses, optimize energy consumption, and improve public and customer relations.
