The EBRD in collaboration with the Aktobe Water Company and the City of Aktobe
developed the Aktobe Water Project to upgrade the water and wastewater services in the City of Aktobe. As part of this project, a Corporate Development Programme was requested to improve the performance of the Company with respect to EBRD’s loan covenants for the infrastructure investments. s part of the Corporate Development Programme, the following activities were delivered: a performance based private sector management contract between the Company, the Akimat and a private operator; Development and implementation of a FOPIP; Development and adoption of a medium-term focused Corporate Development Plan for the Company; Development and introduction of an MIS; Development and implementation of the Stakeholder Participation Programme (SPP) Specifically, the project supported the client to: improve environmental performance, to meet effluent treatment standards; improve revenue and collection efficiency, reduce NRW and water losses, optimize energy consumption, and improve public and customer relations.
